Went fishing and Kieran/Quinn had a lot of fun although didn't catch anything (except each other). They had a great time at the air show, Kieran really likes looking at them all. Kieran is having fun at school and is pretty used to the routine now.
Kieran started Kindergarten and has loved his first week. He is attending a Spanish immersion school so his teacher won't speak english to him. He has a good friend Cami in class whose mother is also from England which has also been a help. Quinn went with him on Friday to drop him off and wanted to go to class also so the change has been as much for him as Kieran. All in all though Kieran has loved it.
Kieran and Quinn got to meet their cousin Nate, Quinn wouldn't leave him alone. They also went to the Sonoma County fair where they got to act as the "pieces" during a game of candyland. Also went to the farm and played bocce ball and played with the goats.
Kieran had a great birthday. He traded up to a new bike and passed his old one to Quinn who was ecstatic to get it. They have been having a great time riding around. Kieran's birthday party had a airplane theme, he really liked his cake.
Went camping this weekend up in the redwoods. The boys and Charlie spent 2 full days playing in the river nonstop. They spent most of the time throwing rocks and playing on their boats (and sometimes chasing water snakes, as you can see Kieran doing with the snake in the bottom left of the one photo slithering away in the river). They were passed out at the end of each day. We also stopped at the "amazing" confusion hill on the way hom e where the boys could walk through cheezy buildings where gravity had no effect.
Spent a few days visiting the boys cousin's down in Sausalito where they were staying on a houseboat on vacation. They had a great time with them and they haven't stopped talking about them now that they have left.
Some pics from earlier in the month: Kieran with his boat he put together at the discovery museum, he could float it down a little wind tunnel that would puch it along. A pic of Quinn in the morning with his toy story shades on that he wore every morning for a while. Kieran's friend Katie putting sun tan lotion on before a afternoon of play in the pool and a shaky pic of the boys enjoying 4th of July fireworks (notice Quinn's earmuffs to keep the sound out, which freaks him out)
Went to a old Russian outpost this weekend (Fort Ross). Kieran and Quinn had a great time running around "shooting bad guys" with the various cannons in the fort (they "shot" me about 50 times) and playing in the towers and buildings. They also went down and looked for shells etc. on the beach which they also liked.
Went camping this weekend to Salt Point on the Sonoma Coast. Had fun looking at tidepoools and hiking up to the pygmy forest. The boys found a bunch of abalone shells and little crabs.
The boys have been taking swimming lessons and we have been going on the weekends when we can, they absolutely love it. Quinn stays in until he almost gets sick from exhaustion (and swallowing water). Kieran is almost to the point where he is "officially" swimming
Quinn had a great birthday today, here is a short video of Quinn playing "pin the badge on buzz". Also are shoys of Quinn blowing out the candles on his Buzz vs. Zorg cake, Kieran peeking out of the hamster ball for little kids, the kids eating and Quinn opening presents. All in all, Quinn had a great time
The big U.S. vs. England soccer match was today, the boys had split loyalties for the game so good thing it ended 1-1 (Quinn was sick when the English goalie let the ball through)
The boys got new bike helmets, Kieran's looks like the old evel knieval outfits so I made the mistake of telling them about him and now they think they can perform like him. I walked downstairs today to find them each with a stick taking turns hitting each other in the head and Kieran soon after approached me to discuss the feasibility of "parachuting" out of the 2d story window with a pillowcase as long as he was wearing his helmet....great
Here are a few pics from this week. The close-up of Quinn is when he just got out of his swim lesson, he is proud of the fact he is a "tadpol". Kieran and Quinn playing in the water in Alameda. We went to the mountain play held in a theater built on the top of mount tam in the 30's. We took a bus to the top of the mountain and there was puppet show for the kids and other stuff to do. The views were amazing from up there.
